Bellecombe

Historical background

This neighborhood was named after Grenadiers Captain Léonard de Bellecombe, who served as officer in General de Montcalm’s army and fought in Québec City in 1759. The first families moved to Bellecombe in 1935 to clear land, settle and establish the parish of Ste-Agnès-de-Bellecombe. The opening of the parish of St-Roch-de-Bellecombe followed in 1938. In 1979, the two parishes became one municipal administrative body, called Bellecombe. In 2002, pursuant to an amalgamation of all the municipalities of the MRC Rouyn-Noranda, the municipality of Bellecome became a neighborhood.

Bellecombe offers a peaceful living environment to its population and a very sought-after setting for resort and outdoor activities.
